NARRATIVE: On Friday, 04/13/07, at approximately 1619 hrs units of the City of Spokane Fire Department responded to 528 W. Mansfield upon report of a structure fire. While SFD crews were still en-route additional information became available that the fire had spread from one detached garage to a second garage to the east. First arriving crews on the scene advanced pre-connected hose-lines into both garages. The first garage now totally involved and the second with the roof and exterior siding on fire. Fire crews were able to extinguish both fires within approximately 15 minutes. No other structures in the area were damaged by the fire. The first garage was a total loss. A car within the garage was also consumed by the fire. The second garage had significant damage to the roof, exterior siding on one side, and some interior structural damage. SFD members spent additional time conducting overhaul operations to assure the fire was extinguished.

A total of 22 firefighters on 8 fire apparatus responded to this blaze. No injuries were reported to either firefighters or civilians.


PROBABLE CAUSE: The cause of the fire is currently undetermined and under investigation. At the time of this medial release fire investigators were still working on the fire scene.
DAMAGE EXTENT: Two detached garages were damaged in this incident. The first garage was a total loss and was located behind the residence at 528 W. Mansfield. The garage situated just east of the first garage had damage to the exterior siding, roof and some interior damage. No other structures were damaged in this incident.
