Dean Carr for E-Board letter!

Hey,

> I just wanted to drop everyone a line that I had email addresses
> for to let you know if you didn't know already that I am running for
> eboard this election.
>
> I feel very strongly that, as a union, we need to be more
> inclusive of all of our members. I know there are people who are so
> disenfranchised with the union that they don't feel comfortable even
> going down to the union office to buy a t-shirt. While I don't think
> that there is actually any animosity from the union towards any of the
> members, we need to make sure that everyone in the body feels included
> in the union. I will do my part to actually stop by the stations in
> the district that I will represent to make sure that everyone's
> sentiments are shared with the eboard and principal officers on a
> regular basis.
>
> We need to understand that the local is not a magic wand that
> just needs to be waved to fix every problem but more of a process that
> we work through to ensure that everybody on the job is treated fairly
> and with respect. I also believe that it is important for the east
> side of the job to have more of a voice in being represented in the
> leadership of the local.
>
> It is important to me that the job comes before any specialty
> group. We all (with the exception of the very last class that was
> hired, laid off, and now partially re-hired) came to this job as an
> EMT Firefighter. But there is quite of bit of marginalizing of this
> group going on right now due to these specialties. This must stop
> because the whole job is nowhere without that foundation.
>
> In the 14 years that I've been on, I feel that we have never had
> a better working relationship with the administration of the

> I will make every effort to hit all shifts and every station in
> the next month so that you can beat me up in person.

> Thanks for taking the time,
