Local 876, Spokane Valley Fire fighters have announced the passing of Brother George H. Sly. Brother Sly was a 32 year member of the Spokane Valley Fire Department and a member of Local 876. Brother Sly was an Engineer on Engine 3 at the time of his passing on November 22nd of 2011. Brother Sly served Local 876 in many official capacities and was known as the first LEOFF 2 hire in the department. Brother Sly succumbed to esophageal cancer presumed to be contracted from his many years serving his community. Brother Sly is survived by his wife Linda and adult children Kristoffer and Jocelyn. The celebration of Brother Sly's life will be on December 10th commencing at 1 pm. The venue for the service will be at His Place Church located at 3079 E 16th Avenue in Post Falls, Idaho.
