NARRATIVE: On May 6th 2007 at 2107 hrs L2 was sent to 808 East Montgomery for a small grass fire next to a house. L2 arrived at 2011 hrs to discover a fire inside the basement on the back porch and had extended to the first floor of a full 2 story house. A full alarm was turned in and several more apparatus responded. Entry had to be force through an outside basement door and the back door leading to the kitchen. Attack leads were advanced to the basement and the kitchen. The fire had burned a large portion of the basement, up the outside wall and into the kitchen; Aggressive firefighting prevented the fire from causing further damage to the home. Extensive overhaul was needed to extinguish and cut off the travel of the fire, this took about 40 minutes. The house was searched no one was home.
No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire was accidental, hot embers were swept from the patio and placed into a garbage can which caused the contents to ignited and started the house on fire.
Damage was confined to the kitchen, outside wall, basement and smoke throughout the home.
6 fire apparatus 21 firefighters and one command officer worked this fire.
